April in Wilmington celebrates its springtime beauty with the annual North Carolina Azalea Festival and the first weekend in October celebrates the Cape Fear River with Riverfest. The seasons are distinct but mild and offer year round enjoyment for the 31 miles of beaches, 45 diverse attractions, 54 parks and gardens and the 85+ annual events.
Beaches
Located on the southeastern coast of North Carolina between the Atlantic ocean and the Cape Fear River, the region encompasses Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach. We are 20 minutes from all Brunswick County beaches and 45 minuites from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
History
There are many ways to experience the Wilmington's past and historical sites, including museums, churches, cemeteries, historic homes & battlefields. Opt for a horse-drawn carriage or take a guided tour with local guides. You can also visit the battleship USS North Carolina or take a dinner cruise on the Henrietta III. Historic downtown also offers quaint shops including: Coast Line Convention Center, Cotton Exchange and the Chandler's Wharf.
